Hank-Adopted

Hank1.jpg  Hank2.jpg

Hank3.jpgWhen Hank came into rescue, he had been neglected and abused, as is evident from the scarring on his body.  And still he is the sweetest, most loving and trusting dog I have come across.  Hank absolutely craves attention....you cannot love and pet him enough.  He wants nothing more than to please you!  He is very submissive with the other dogs and for the last two weeks just cowered from them.  Finally, last night, he actually started playing with them for the first time.  Hank is approximately 2 years old, gets along great with other dogs, is crate trained and house trained.  Hank's only Christmas wish is to have a home and family of his very own.

Taz 1207-Adopted

Taz1207.jpgHi, my name is Taz and I am 3 years old and am looking for a new family who will be home more often with me than my other one was. I absolutely LOVE kids and dogs, playing is so much fun! I think it's fun to chase cats around, but I would never hurt those cute little fur balls. I love hanging out with my family and would love to have some kids and dogs to play with again. They said I am up to date on all my shots, I just need to get neutered. I don't quite know what that means but I'm ready for anything! Can I come home with you?

Liddy - renamed Libby-Adopted

 LiddyChuck1.jpg

This is me breaking in my new home and family.  I believe I got very lucky when I came into rescue.

Liddy1.jpg  Liddy2.jpg

Liddy3.jpg

Liddy is a new girl to the rescue program. She is 15 months old and extremely loveable. She gets along well with children of all ages, adults and other dogs. She is a very submissive girl. She was turned into rescue because her owners were moving and rented an apartment with no pets. She was hit by a car in the spring and underwent surgery and was casted for a couple months. The bone fused on the rear leg above the knee and froze the knee in place. Her leg is very stiff and will not bend at the knee. Liddy doesn't think she has an injury, she will run and play her heart out. She just can't do it as fast as the others. She would do best in a home with older children that won't be falling learning to walk and possibly fall on her leg. She would also do best with other dogs that are not quite so rambunctious as a young boxer her age but still quite playfull. She is housetrained and crate trained, very eager to please you and only wants love and some attention. This is one beautiful girl.

Samson Brindle-Adopted

SamsonBaby.jpg

Hi Kelly!  Just wanted to send you an updated photo of Madelyn and her best friend Samson. Everyone is doing great.

Letter and pics from his new family:

OurSamson1.jpg  OurSamson2.jpg

WE LOVE SAMSON!  He has been a wonderful addition to the family.  We couldn’t ask for a better dog.  He is so good with our two year old daughter and she is crazy about him.  We are very lucky that we found him.  It’s like he has always been with us. He goes with us on walks and loves car rides. We would recommend a boxer to anyone who wants a dog that is friendly, good with kids, and very loveable. We are boxer owners for life and we would adopt another if we could. We will send more pics!  Thanks.  Steve, Karen, Jessica, and Madelyn.

Foster Mom's Progress Report:

11.1.07 Samson has been with us for about a week now. Samson is a brindle male boxer, about two years old with a docked tail and natural ears.  He is housetrained, calm, and hardly ever barks or licks.  He loves to sit or lay in the sun outside and take naps. He does excellent when left alone in the house. He plays well with the other dogs that he has come in contact with. He knows his basic commands: ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘off’, ‘shake’, etc. He loves to be with people and will follow us whenever we leave the room. He has become more playful since he has been with us and as of yesterday began playing with some toys. Overall, Samson is a great, lovable dog.

Samson is approximately 2 years old and is a beautiful brindle boy.  Here is what his foster mom says about him:

Hey Kelly!

Here are some pictures of Samson.  It was hard to get any action shots
because he really just likes to lay around and take naps. If you need
any more or would like some from different angles just let me know.

Though I would love to say that he is doing awful and is untrained so
we can keep him longer, he is absolutely amazing! We have also found that
he gets along with other dogs, at least he got along with our friend's
6 month old pit bull terrier; they played for HOURS in the yard.

We will be posting more on Samson as we learn all about him.

Meka-Adopted

CodyMeka.jpg

This is my new brother Cody.  We got to visit Santa and put our Christmas request in.  I didn't have much on my list for I just got it - A NEW HOME AND FAMILY THAT LOVES ME.  What more could anyone want.

Meka1.jpg   Meka7.jpg

Meka6.jpg  Meka8.jpg

Meka is 19 weeks old, 21lbs and cute as a button. Meka loves eating her Canidae food, and getting Real Meat treats for being such a good dog. She loves to play fetch with her tennis balls, tug-o-war with her rope, and just getting to run around and play like a boxer puppy. Meka loves to cuddle up close to you, give you kisses when you need them and will do anything to make you happy. If she needs to take any pills she prefers to have them hidden in some yummy peanut butter, she asks that it be smooth and creamy please:) She doesn't mind taking her baths, but needs to be dried off really well so she doesn't get cold. Meka is house trained and crate trained, but will still need help remembering as she grows. Meka knows how to come, sit, stay, lay down and shake paws. She might be shy at first but give her a little time and she's your best friend. Meka gets along great with other dogs, very respectful, and plays well with children. Meka is a very sweet and loving boxer puppy and would love to have a great home with someone to love her bunches.

Franklin-Adopted

 Frank2.JPG  Frank4.JPG

Frank3.JPG  Franklin.JPG

10-22-07 Update:
I can't believe I have not been adopted yet, my foster mom thinks I'm one of the best boxers she has ever had.  I'm housebroke, crate trained, great with kids of all ages, good with other dogs (big and small), very loving, obedient, playful, and most importantly very handsome.  I might be an older dog, but I sure don't feel like it.  My best friend Nellie and I wrestle and chase each other ALL day.  I love playing soccer, Frisbee and anything else the kids in my family want to play.  I play house with the kids and they dress me up in silly costumes.

I would really love to be in my forever home by Christmas.  I'm asking Santa Claus for my own soccer ball and Frisbee, just two of my favorite things.  I would love a home with kids who want to play with me and a dog for me to rough house with.  Please consider adopting me!!!!       Love, Franklin
8-15-07:
Franklin is a love bug and so sweet.  The swelling in his face is gone and he is much more comfortable.  He does well with all dogs except dominate males.  Franklin is very submissive and will not fight, dominate males like to pick on him.  He likes to run and play boxer style with people and other dogs.  Franklin loves to be with his family and will stay by your side inside or outside.  He is crate trained and doing great with his potty training, he has made great improvements with his potty training.  Franklin is still waiting to be neutered, he is scheduled for Aug.23.

My name is Franklin and I am so happy to finally be in my foster home.  My foster family is still learning about me but I seem really sweet.  I am gentle, quiet, playful, and good with small kids.  I get along well with the other male and female boxers in my foster home.  I will be going to the vet very soon to be neutered and to have my face looked at.  The right side of my face is really swelled, so we need to find out why and get treatment for me.  I also have some permanent scars on my left hind leg, but they do not bother me when I walk or run.  Check back soon for an update on Franklin and new pictures.

She is fully vetted and ready to be adopted.  She loves to play and chase toys.  She also knows sit, down, shake and is crate trained.  Mindy is good with older children and would do best in a home with no other dogs.  More will be posted as we learn all about Mindy.

Cash is a beautiful dark mahogany brindle boy of about 2 years old.  He is very loving and can't seem to get enough of your attention.  Cash does not like the crate, he does walk well on a lead, although he does pull a little bit.  He seems to be house trained as well.  It does take him a bit to get use to other dogs, he will need a home without cats.

Paisley-Adopted

Hi Kelly,

I thought that I'd follow up on our voicemail exchane with an e-mail, just in case you want to post a more updated report on Paisley.  I saw that she made it to the Adoptions page on the website!

Paisley has turned out to be one of the best dogs we have ever been blessed to adopt.  She is a constant source of affection and humor and her personality really shines through since we got her just over a month ago.  It seems as if we learn something about her everyday and it's always more happy discoveries.  She is funny and talkative.  When we get home she literally jumps for joy and charges around the yard, leaping over every obstacle, including her hounddog brother.  Paisley quickly got the hang of our doggie routine and now enjoys the pet door and fences yard all day long.  She's in and out all day, depending on whether she feels like sun bathing and barking and chasing rabbits (who are actually on the other side of the fence), or if she prefers to lounge around the house in the leather chair that she shares with her older brother, Tiger.

She is sweet and playful with her two geriatric siblings and we think that her energy will keep them younger for a little while longer.  We go on walks everyday and she gently greets all people and animals, she has not met a stranger.  In fact, we fostered a rescued kitten for a week - we didn't know what to expect from Paisley, because we don't have cats.  She would not let that kitten out of her sight.  She followed him everywhere, licked him, nudged him with her nose, layed next to him and kept constant watch.  Eventually, the little kitten got comfortable and chased and attacked her throughout the house, which she happily accepted.  We have crowned her "the perfect dog".

Deb and I are convinced that we struck gold when we connected with you and you were able to match our new sweet baby to our home.  You were right on the money and we could not be happier.

Thank you for Paisley.

Best,

Maureen

Paisley is a 5 y.o. white female. She and her companion (Ricco) were taken by animal control from their owner for neglect. Paisley was very skinny, infested with fleas, and had severe hair loss when she was rescued by animal control.  She is a wonderful girl, housebroken, crated trained and is very loving.  She does well with all other dogs. She is a quite girl not your normal rowdy boxer type . Would be a great companion for a elderly person, she has wonderful leash manners .....   Doesnt bark at anything ....... She has been fully vetted and is waiting for her new family to apply.

Hoss - Adopted

1-2-08 Update:

Hi Kelly,

Just a quick Hoss update.

He loves being a therapy dog, great response from the kids interacting with him. He is very gentle and loving with my patients.

Hoss has settled in well, continues to enjoy sleeping and eating-his 2 greatest talents! At last vet check he weighed in at 86lbs. He loves riding in the car and truck with us-always friendly with everyone he meets.

We are enjoying his company very much!

Angela

hoss2.jpg  hoss3.jpg

Hi Kelly,

Thought you might like to know how Hoss is doing. I attached some pictures of him in his new home doing what he does best-being laid back! I assure you we are spoiling him and taking excellent care of him. He has made friends with our other dog and cat as well.

He is laying on his new bed we made him today. I took a futon mattress and cut it in half ,sewed up the raw edge and sewed a polar fleece case to enclose it in. I think he is enjoying it very much.

Hoss is such a good natured dog. We have been getting him acquainted with our home and yard. I do think he is happy here. Our kids look forward to meeting him, I have sent them camera phone pictures. Our daughter and son in law are coming in this weekend and they are excited to get to know him.

I do psychiatry, primarily with kids and this Friday I plan on taking Hoss to work with me-I believe he will have a positive response with the kids. I have a good friend that does psychiatry with a therapy dog and patients have benefited from this relationship. If Hoss likes the kids I may think about having him certified as a therapy pet and take him to work with me on Fridays 2 times a month. It is at a wilderness residential facility for kids located on approximetly 400 acres and I think Hoss would love it.

Hoss is eating, sleeping and playing well. He tolerated the car trip with ease. It took us longer because we stopped many times to let him stretch his legs and have a drink. He was a little unsettled the first night but has been more at ease today. I think he has sniffed every smell our home has.

Thank you so much for putting in so many loving days with him. He is really a special pet and will be an important part of our family.

I would love it if you came and visited him, we have plenty of room, maybe you could stay the weekend. It is a beautiful drive and there are many good places to ride horses you might want to check out for future rides. We have a friend that has a large barn and small campground located on a popular trail ride area. He really caters to the horses and I have no doubt that his horse barn is better equipped than his own house.

Hoss will get to know our vet Oct the 12th. I will give her copies of his papers-shots etc. and see about starting his HW pills.

.jpg5-25-07 UPDATE:  Hoss is housetrained, crate trained and has better manners than expected.  He gets along well with other dogs and likes to play.  He is a very independent fellow and doesn't like to be loved on all the time.  He will come to you when he wants lovin.  He is a very laid back boy and is most happy sitting or laying by you.  Hoss is an all natural boy which includes his natural tail.  He would do best in a home without very young children.

Hoss807.jpgHoss is 1 of the 4 owner surrenders that was being turned into the shelter. He has been kept outside on a chain and will shortly be learning what it is like to be an inside dog, being part of a family, and getting the love and attention he so deserves. He is 6 months old. We are sure he is not housetrained or crate trained due to his previous circumstances but will soon be learning. We are beginning his vetting and he will be looking for a new home shortly. We would like to find a home that is familiar with housetraining and willing to take him through obedience classes since we are sure he will need them. He may need some patience on gaining good manners.

4-21-07 UPDATE:  Hope had her new home waiting, but her and the other dog did not hit it off.  She is fully recovered and is extremely beautiful again.  She is ready and waiting on her new home to come along.  She would do best in a home where she is the only canine in residence.

2-14-07 New Pics-I have some hair.

Hope1.jpg   Hope2.jpg

Hope came from a high kill shelter and is in need of your financial assistance.  She came in with such a severe case of demodex that she has no hair on her little body.  She had open sores all over from bacterial infections that is our cheif priority in treating.  She is spending a large amount of time at our vets office.  We will begin treating her other ailments once we have the bacterial infection under control.  She will require lots of care in order to get her healthy and happy again.  We will update periodically.

Joy-Adopted

Joy2.jpg  Joy1.jpg

Joy3.jpg

7-9-07 UPDATE: I have full use of my leg now that the staples were removed. I am very playful and love to play with the boxer boy in my foster home. I really love all the toys and can't stand it when my foster mom picks them up and puts them back in the basket. I just have to get them out to play some more.

6-25-07 UPDATE:  Now that those staples have been removed, I am using my leg more and more.  I do wear it out running and burning in full boxer mode, but I am not carrying it near like I did.  I may have full recovery or at least it seems that way right now.

I am known as Joy and as my name implies, I am a very happy girl of 1.5 to 2 years old.  I am full of wiggles, love to run and just be next to you.  I do well with children, non-dominate males, but NO CATS PLEASE.  I appear to be housetrained and am very gentle, don't forget I am very loving and sweet also.  I came in from a high kill shelter with staples in my rear left leg that should have been out quite some time ago, but no one took them out.  I think I may have been hit by a car, stapled and taken later to the shelter.  I will sometimes hold my leg up when I am running hard and fast, but with use and some time that may disappear.  I am a very playful girl who LOVES toys.  I can entertain myself for hours with the toys.  I am also very good at not jumping on people.  I am learning to like my crate and will go in to lay down on my own.  I will start learning my obedience commands, but I am very good at listening.

Chlea aka Lola - Adopted

chleaMom.jpg

UPDATE 6-12-07:  Chlea is almost through the treatment process for Ehrlichia and will begin her heartworm treatment soon after.  She is one of the nicest girls we have in care.  She is housetrained, very loving and gentle with everyone.  She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and of course children.  How no one came to claim this girl at the shelter is beyond us.  She is just fabulous.

Chlea is a beautiful flashy fawn girl of 2.5 years old.  She came into the shelter ready to deliver her pups and was unclaimed by her previous owners.  She delivered in the shelter a couple days later but due to the stress of the shelter only 4 out of 12 pups made it.  She is a very good mother and is quite happy to have a safe and quiet environment to raise her kids.  Chlea also came in heartworm positive and tested positive for Ehrlichia (tick born disease).  She will have to wait for treatment until the pups are done nursing, then she will start an appoximate 6 weeks of anitibiotics to treat the Ehrlichia, then the Heartworm treatment and will be spayed after these two treatments are complete.  She is fully housetrained, has wonderful manners, is very laid back and walks great on lead.  She gets along very well with other dogs and loves being at your side.  She is an absolutely wonderful girl.

Sampson is fully vetted and ready for adoption.  He had done great with his potty training  and can be trusted in the house when you are gone.  He is also crate trained but will bark just a little when you get ready to leave.  Sampson loves to play with kids of all ages.  He gets along well with small dogs and large females.  He likes to be dominate over submissive males and tends to be a bully.  He will do best in a home without other large male dogs.  Sampson loves to play with people or other dogs, but he also enjoys just relaxing with his family in the house.

My name is Sampson and I am so glad to be out of that high kill shelter I have been calling home, I look to be about 2 years old.  When I left the shelter I was full of fleas and had several ticks.  Three baths later I am fitting in very well with my foster family.  I have two other boxer girls to play with all day...who are in LOVE with me. I also get along with my foster family's  2 small male dogs.  I do great with kids and don't mind their occasional roughness.  I slept in a crate the first night at my new home and did not make a peep or soil my cage.  I do get a little anxious if you put me in my crate and leave the room...my foster mom is going to work on helping me feel more comfortable in my crate.   I also need to work on my potty training a little more.  Next week I am going to the vet to be neutered and to make sure I am healthy and ready for adoption really soon.  I am a really sweet boy and enjoy lots of love and attention.

      NewHope3.jpg

3-17-07: This beautiful little lady is wonderful.  She is still very playful and our vet seems to think she may be younger than 5, she is just prematurely grayed from the life of neglect and abuse she has lead before.  She came in after her abuse case was settled in court.  She will have to have some dental surgery to remove a broken canine that has started to rott, but is otherwise quite healthy.  She does not like for you to take things out of her mouth, toys etc.  She is a very gentle and loving girl who deserves so much more.

Lola is new to the rescue program.  She is a 5 yr old brindle female that is cropped and docked.  She has had a very rough life so far but we have promised to make it better for her.  She gets along well with other dogs, cats are unknown.  She is housetrained and has very nice house manners.  More will be posted as we learn all about Hope.

This is Holmes (named after Ernest Holmes). I think he's 18 months, neutered and has all his shots. He is a wonderful dog! Gets along well with other dogs (is currently living with two female dogs) and loves to play. He is crate trained, house broken, and loves attention. He is very mild mannered - definitely not an alpha dog. Can't imagine that he wouldn't love kids too.

Isabell6.jpg     Isabell7.jpg

Izzy's new mom: She is so sweet.  I am so blessed to have her.  Please tell Kelly that I thank her for taking such wonderful care of her and training her so well.  Izzie is a jewel - although she hogs my bed!

I've named her Phoebe - which means shining - and bright.  Phoebe was also the first deaconess in the Bible - sent by Paul to deliver one of his letters.  I am entering the Deacon program this fall in the Episcopal Church - and hopefully will also become a chaplain at the same time.  I hope to train Phoebe and JJ to go with me to visit the ill and homebound.
Anyway, thanks again.  I'll be sending pictures I promised Kelly.  JJ and Phoebe get along great.  I knew they would.  Hannah, my 7 pound Shih Tzu - is trying to boss her around and it is much too early.  Phoebe just looks at her likes she's crazy!  Things will settle down.
Campbell

Isabell is still a baby, she's a typical 6 month old all natural girl.  She was turned in at a high kill shelter for destroying things and not able to learn the word NO.  Of course she cannot learn verbal commands, we thought she was deaf because she would not respond.  She had a severe ear infection that has taken some time to really get it all cleared up.  She is extremely smart and does get into mischief.  She is having a blast at her foster home with so many to play with and cuddle with, she has learned about crating and is fully housetrained.  She is such a sweetheart and certainly deserves a home where she will be loved, well cared for, and patience is in abundance.

News from New Family:

Sandie,

Here is an update and pictures of Bethany for the website.

 BethanyLapDog.jpg Treattime.jpg

Bethany has settled in real well to her forever home!  She is doing great and seems to love it here.  She was very disciplined when she got her so we know she had some strict training.  She will walk on a leash, right by your side weather I’m walking her slowly or my husband is walking her fast.  The first few nights she wouldn’t leave her bed, even though it is allowed.   She had to learn that she could go outside (through the dog door) whenever she wanted to.  If you toldl her to go outside, she would stay outside until you called her in. She is eating well & is now weighing in at about 65 pounds (the vet said she was 48 pounds when they first saw her) and she is one of the strongest dogs we have ever seen!  She gets along great with our other Boxer, Maggie (10 ˝ years old), and our daughter’s “Bosteagle”, Mocha.  Mocha & Bethany will chase each other throughout the house and play tug like there’s no tomorrow (with Bethany swinging Mocha around in the yard).  All three get on the bed and sit for vitamins and treats every day.  She has learned to wave, “say hello” by giving you her paw and she will give you a kiss whenever she is asked for one!  She thinks she is a lap dog & will jump into my lap whenever anything upsets her, including thunder, someone else being disciplined or when she is jealous because she thinks someone else is getting too much attention.  And she won’t hesitate to crawl into bed with us and curl up in a ball between us for the night.    She is a great watch dog who will bark at just about anyone coming to the house, but she seems to know who family is and won’t bark at them.  She is one of the best dogs we have ever had!

Bethany2.jpgBeth is new to the rescue program.  She is a beautiful young Boxer/American Bulldog girl that is very playful and seems to love the skate board.  When her foster home's son got off she was ready to take her ride.  We are in the process of learning where her manners and housetraining abilities are and will post more as we learn.

Granny is approximately 8-10 years old.  She is an older gentle girl that is fully housetrained, doesn't need a crate and just adorable.  She was picked up as a stray by the shelter and never reclaimed by her owners.  She had been on her own for some time.  She is getting along well in her foster home with all the other dogs, cats are unknown at this time.  She has begun her vetting and is seriously looking for her new family that will love and care for her properly.

Adoption Donation:  None, to the right family that will love and protect her for the rest of her life.  She will give her new family everything she has left to give and only wants loved in return.  Donations of course are accepted to cover the cost of vetting that has been done.

SandiNash.jpgSandi is new to the rescue program. She is about a year to 15 months old. She has had a litter of pups that did not make it to the shelter with her. She is a very laid back young girl and has made herself at home on the couch. She is very loveable and seems to be getting along with the other dogs in her new foster home. Adopted

Shayla

SHAYLA1.jpg     SHAYLASTAND1.jpg

Message from Foster Mom: Shayla is WONDERFUL with kids and does great with her 2 year old nephew as well as her 4 year old, she never knocks them down and is very gentle. She will try to lick their face but if you tell her no, she stops. She does very well with small dogs and is ok with females. She still has some dominance issues with big dogs and needs to make sure they are aware that it's her turf. She used to chase cats and now she runs from them.  She is up to date on all her vaccines and heartworm
preventative.

Hi there, I am now known as Shayla.  They think I am a Boxer and Great Dane mix girlie or a very poorly bred boxer.  I am 2.5 years old, housetrained and crate trained.  I prefer a home as the only dog and am not a kitty cat girl.  I am a chaser with those meow creatures and would do better in a home that doesn't have one.  I am a high energy  girl and need a lot of exercise, my foster mom says I am a big girl.  I would make someone a wonderful running partner.  I am a very good girl with good house manners and so very loving, I just want to please you.  I also know my basic obedience commands and can do a good stay.  I really want a home of my own.
