Adoptions

Copper-Adopted

Copper   Copper   Copper

Copper is a wonderful older guy of about 8-9 years old.  He is a very happy guy who ended up in a high kill shelter through no fault of his own.  He is fully vetted and looking for his new home.  He gets along well with other dogs, cats are unknown.  He just loves everyone and would make someone a fabulous new family member.

Adoption Donation:  $ None, we would like to find Copper his new family for LIFE.  At his age he deserves this.

 Rowdy-Adopted

Meet my new mom - I have to keep her safe and warm on these cold winter days:

Rowdy

Rowdy    Rowdy  Rowdy

Rowdy is a big muscular boy and just that.....rowdy. He loves to run and get down and dirty. He gets along great with other dogs, both male and female, however, he does not like aggressive males. Rowdy is a fence jumper.....he stays within sight and does not take off, he just has to see what's on the other side and usually it is another dog to play with. We are working on this issue and have made progress but, this training will need to continue in his new home. This is the only bad habit we have found with Rowdy and despite the fence jumping, Rowdy is a sweet, loving guy looking for the perfect family. He would do very well in a home with older children and/or another dog. If you are looking for a best friend, you can find it in Rowdy!

Lady0408-Adopted

Lady  Lady  Lady

Lady is 8 to 10 years old and spent all of her life in a crate having puppies. Those days are over and Miss Lady has been spayed, fully vetted, and is awaiting her forever home. She has lots of energy, and loves to run and play with her foster siblings. She is very sweet girl and loves attention. She does not like being crated though and would prefer to be in a home where she can run free. Miss Lady is making great progress with her house training and will make someone a wonderful companion. Please consider giving this older "Lady" something she has never had....a wonderful loving home.

Adoption Donation: Waived to the right home that will love and care for her for whatever time is remaining.

Darby-0208  Special Needs-Adopted

Patches1.jpg    Patches2.jpg

Patches3.jpgMeet Darby, a very petite older female.  She is crate trained, housebroken and loves to play with her foster boxers.  Her tail was cropped completely off, so she has no tail really and is slightly abnormal in the genital area and may require a little clean up when her stools are soft.  She will need a home that is willing to attend to this special need.  She minds extremely well, responds to her name and is very, very affectionate.  She knows what a dog door is and uses when she wants to be outside to lay in the yard or bark at the neighboring horses.  She is completely housetrained, can be left uncrated, and well mannered.  She is perfect with young children or people of all ages.  Darby walks very well on lead and is trustworthy off lead.  She is one exceptional gal.

This is one extremely special girl who loves everyone and everything.  You cannot ask for a better more well behaved girl than Darby.

Adoption Donation: Waived to the right home willing to meet her special needs for life.

Rosie

Rosie is new the rescue program.  She is a beautiful adult 3-5 year old mahogany boxer girl who came in heartworm positive.  She will be starting her heartworm treatment very shortly.  You will not find a better girl than her.  She is housetrained and crate trained, she is quick to pick up on rules she is very smart and loveable.  She is great with other animals except cats.  She does great with children.  She does not like to be alone for very long.  She loves her blankie and to be held and loved on.  We have not had her around to many people.  She is a gerat family dog and is ok with others when she gets to know you. She is a little shy at first, but who wouldn't be after the life she has lived.  She will be available for adoption once her heartworm treatment is complete and she is spayed.  We really need your help in offsetting some of her heartworm treatment.

Caesar: Adopted

caesar ceasar2

ceasar3

Caesar is 2 years 2 months old he was an owner surrender.  He weighs 52 lbs, has a beautiful head and a very soft coat.  He likes the other foster dogs in the home and has shown no aggression with males or females.  He is still a little rambunctious when he plays, just needs some direction. Probably not good with toddlers without adult supervision. He is learning quickly to sit on command and is walking on a lead with just a few yards of pulling before he gets the hang of it.

My name is Rocco and I am a very BIG boy of about 3 years.  I weigh 75 pounds and I’m still skinny.  I love to play with toys out in the yard with my foster family.  I can even catch a tennis ball in the air.  I know several commands already: sit, down, shake, and speak.  I’m pretty good in my crate, although I whine a little because I am lonely.  My foster family will be working on my potty training.  I seen to be okay with kids….I don’t really pay attention to them much yet.  I really like one of the other female boxers in my foster home.  After I am neutered, I will get to meet some of the other male boxers in my home.  Despite my size, I am really gentle and would be a good fit for almost any home.  I would love to find my forever family very soon.

Marcey1207: Adopted

marcey

Hi Kelly.  Marcey is doing great.  She's such a cuddler and loves on everyone.  Kennedy (the white Peke puppy) is especially fond of her.  He licks her face and sucks on her nipples... the boys think that's hilarious.  She had several accidents the first day, but none since.  There was an unidentified brown stain on Justin's bed where she slept last night.  Not sure what that came from???  She's not eating.  I got her to eat some canned puppy food, but she won't touch the dry food.
Thank you so much for her.  We love her already and she fits right in.

Marcey.jpg  Marcey2.jpg

Marcey  Marcey

Hey guys! It's me, Marcey. I have a new video and pictures for you to see, video is posted at http://www.petfinder.org.  Nobody seems to be in a rush to take me home. I'm not getting any younger, ya know! My foster mom says I am such a gentle dog. You hardly even realize I'm there sometimes. All I want is a permanent home and a little love to make my last years the best I've ever had. Meet Miss Marcey. She is a beautiful cropped and docked female who is a real love bug. She is about 10 yrs old and does not require being crated. She is housetrained and good with other dogs and children. She is still a bouncy female who loves getting attention, but also loves laying on the couch with you.

Adoption Donation: Waived to right home willing to give her the love and attention she needs for the rest of her life.

Splash: Adopted

Splash is doing great. They both slept in bed with me last night and are getting along well- even trying to play a little bit together. Splash “met” the cat and decided he did not want to play with cats anymore. No fighting, just a lot of posturing on the cats part. Splash and my 5 year old played very well together, until we discovered that whatever he had been bathed in made my son break out, so Splash and Mary Jane got a bath last night. They did fine with that. I think he is going to be a beautiful addition to the home.

Thanks so much for what you do.

Dear Boxer Lovers,

My name is splash and I'm a white boxer boy about 7 months old.  Before I was rescued by the Humane Society and then taken in by my foster parents, I was chained on a porch that I could not get off of and my food was thrown directly into my bodily waste.  Thus, I am very underweight.  I can sit and am very well mannered so far.  I do kinda enjoy chasing kitties, but can easily be stopped with verbal commands.  I'm a little shy, but I warm up very quickly and am getting better everyday.  All I want in my forever home is to be loved and pet.

The cutest little white boxer boy you ever saw,

Stormy-Adopted

Stormy  Stormy  Stormy

10-8-08 Update:  Just like Kelsey, Stormy had to “earn her keep” in her prior home.  We suspect she was dumped at the local shelter because she was not producing enough puppies.  She is playful and enjoying her new home.  Stormy is about two years old, crate trained, and housebroken.  She will do well in a home with kids or other dogs.

10-8-09 Update:   Kelsey is very shy but she is starting to welcome attention from her foster mom.  She likes to go around the house and gather all the toys up to take back to her crate.  She is not accustomed to be petted or loved on...all she has ever known is raising puppies.   She is only about 2 years old, but it is obvious she has been repeatedly bred.  She no longer has to “earn her keep” and will make a great addition to any family.  She is good with kids and other dogs.  Kelsey is also housebroken and crate trained.

 Melody: Adopted

melody

melody2 melody3

My name is Melody and I am about 4 years old. I was used for breeding and when they decided I was no longer needed I found myself homeless. My foster mom says I am one of the best behaved dogs she has ever had. I love to play and especially love to play keep away, much to the dismay of my foster sister. I am crate trained and house trained. I love to take walks and walk very well on lead. I get along with both of my foster siblings and have shown no food or toy aggression. My mom says I have just the right amount of energy...I make her laugh and I am playful with toys, but I also am able to calm down and lay next to her for a good cuddle. Won't you give me the forever home that I have dreamed about? Love, Melody

 Annie

Annie

I just wanted to let you know that all is going great.  She has adjusted wonderfully.  She went for her first vet appt. yesterday.  She was allergic to her suture material and she is on antibotics to get that under control.  You would never know that it bothered her though.  Her and my other little dog play and play.  They just love each other.  Here are some pics of her chillin out around the house.

Annie AnniE

Annie never made it to our available female adoptable page before her new home came along.  Here is what her new family says about her.

Sandie,
Annie is doing GREAT!!!  It is like she has always been here.  She loves her crate and will go in it to just take a nap.  Her and Turbo (our other little dog) has become best of friends and Turbo will not go outside with out her.  She has just captured all of our hearts.  She is so gentle when given a treat and just wants to be by my side.  We all love her so much!!!  Her new name is Ellie Mae, which we think suits her pretty good.  We couldn't keep the name Annie due to the fact that our babysitters name is Annie.  She has already adjusted to her new name also and will come to us when called.  She is pottying good and is drinking good, but like you said her appetite is just not up to par yet.  She will eat treats though.  She loves them.  I treat her when we have to leave and she goes in her crate, and when we come in from outside after potty time.  She will sit and wait patiently until I give her the treat too.  She learns fast, I don't even have to ask her to sit now either, she just does it.  Thank you ever so much for letting her be a part of our family.   We are truly blessed to have her as a member of our family.  I will keep you updated and will send you some new pics of her and our family.
Thanks,
Jennifer R.

10-2-08 UPDATE:  I was adopted in June and I have been returned.  My family had a job offer to good to be true and they thought I would need a more stable environment.  So here I am again looking for a family who will love and protect me, hopefully forever.  I am now 8 months old and really want a family to love me.  More will be posted shortly along with new pictures.

My name is Zoe, hopefully I will grow into my new name. I am a beautiful 10 week old deaf girl so will be listed as a special needs. I am crate trained and working on my housetraining. My foster mom has started me on my hand signals and says I am a quick study. Everyone seems to think that I am extremely smart for one so young and given the circumstances of my surrender. You see I was going to be euthanized because I am deaf by my breeder and the rescue ladies could not see that happening. I am to loveable and quite the little lady despite my deafness. Someday when I grow up, I will be a beautiful, intelligent girl who my new family will be proud to have in their family.

Casey is a petite girl and a little under weight.  She loves to play with toys and plays keep away in the backyard.  She is house trained and crate trained.  She is 18-24 months old.  Casey has a very sweet disposition and likes to play with our quieter foster dogs in the home, she seems a little shy with the more assertive dogs....I think from her scars she has had some bad experiences with other dogs.  We will post an update on Casey as soon as we know more about her.

Brutus: Adopted

I am being adopted by my foster family.  Look at me and my sister, we love each other.

Thank you for choosing to be my forever family.

7-27-08 Update:  I am one the best dogs in my foster home.  I have full run of the house and rarely ever get crated.  I never have accidents and would never even consider chewing anything.  I enjoy be playful and running around with the other dogs or just lounging around the house. My leg is all healed up…a little crooked but it does not hold me back.  I don’t even limp anymore.  I would prefer to be in a home WITHOUT other large male dogs.  I like to be the boss and there is only room for one boss in the house.  Just like any good man, I do let the girls boss me around and I don’t mind small bossy dogs either… male or female.  I love kids and would not mind having some in my forever family.  My human foster siblings have nicknamed me “Lips” since I have BIG floppy lips.  I love kids and don’t mind their occasional roughness.

UPDATE 5-14-08:  I am loving my foster family and they love me too.  I am super sweet and just love being around my family.   Every morning when my foster mom is waking up, I put my head on her arm so she can give me a little love before she starts her day. Next, we go into her daughter's room to wake her up for school.   She loves it when I wake her up for school and I love the attention I get.  I am her favorite of all the dogs in the house and I know it.  I am potty trained and enjoy lounging around the house or laying in the grass. I am great with kids and large/small dogs.  I don't need to be crated since I behave like a perfect gentleman. Please take the time to meet me.  You will fall in love with my personality and never even notice my leg or my limp.  After all, it is not my fault my broken leg was never fixed and allowed to heal up crooked.  People have let me down in the past and I need a family who will love me for me.

Brutus  brutus

brutus3

My name is Brutus (3years) and I was picked up by animal control for repeatedly roaming loose in my neighborhood.  When my owners were contacted they said they did not want me.  As it turns out, that was a good thing because they did not take good care of me.  My right front leg had been broken and it was left to heal on its own.  Because of that, my leg is permanently crooked and I limp. I am able to get around okay but my leg cannot be fixed.  When my foster mom brought me home I was so dirty and my ears were full of ticks.  I felt so much better after my bath.  I am very friendly toward adults/kids and other dogs.  I like to play with people and other dogs but I'm also happy just relaxing on the floor.  I am crate trained and still working on my potty training.  Please consider giving me the only thing I have ever wanted, a family who loves me!

JOJO-Adopted

    JoJo  JoJo

JoJo  jOjO

3-4-08  JoJo has been returned to rescue.  He will not be placed with young children.  He will need a strong owner who will not let him get away with anything.  His new owner needs to be familiar with boxers and training.  JoJo has a problem of realizing where he fits into the pack and will try to take over if he doesn't respect his owners as the pack leader.  He will need direction as any unruly teenager.   It would also be best that he is the only dog in his new household.  He does very well with the females here in my household and even my older male but would need supervision for awhile to make sure he knows his place.  He loves playing with my girls and plays very well with them.

Meet JOJO. He is approximately 11-18 months old and is a beautiful dark brindle boy. It is a little hard to distinguish his real age because of the condition he came in.  He came into care very malnourished, full of parasites but has begun the road to recovery. He has been fully vetted, neutered and had a small tumor removed on his scrotem.  He is starting to feel better each and every day. He appears to be housetrained, crate trained, and is displaying good manners. He seems to get along fine with other dogs and even the kitty, but he is not feeling well right now so we will post whether this changes or not. We will post more about JOJO as we learn. Please check back on him.

Bruno: Adopted

Bruno  Bruno

Bruno

9-14-08 Update from Foster Mom:    Bruno has been in his foster home for about a month now and I think that his background is worth sharing.  He originally came from Korea where he was purchased as a puppy in a meat market by a military couple that was stationed there.  They vetted him and brought him back to the states when they returned.  However, due to deployment and health issues the couple faced upon their return they realized they could no longer care for him the way he deserved, so they contacted the rescue.

Bruno has just had his birthday and turned two!   As a two- year old boxer you can imagine he is quite active and playful in true boxer style!  He has adapted very well to his new foster home.  He has learned how to share and loves playing tug of war with his new boxer siblings at home.  He is great while being fed and does not mind if me or the other dogs touch him or go near the food while he is eating.  Sometimes he is frankly more interested in playing than eating anyway.  He does have a corn allergy and is on a special food, but it is really not a problem.  He has recovered from having his tail docked and does not miss it at all.  Now he looks and feels like a true boxer.  He is great with kids and has good manners at home.  He follows his foster mom's rules very well and is a very good boy.  He is a great addition to my family and I know he would be to yours! ***

He will be 2 in August. He has a food allergy to corn, and is currently fed him Canidae Lamb and rice. The regular Canidae was too rich.  He has never lived with kids, but has done well when around any.  He gets very excited and likes to kiss and sometimes jumps. He does well with other dogs, but can be food aggressive and toy aggressive. Never with humans, only other dogs.  He is a very cuddly guy, just young and excitable. He does prefer women to men, at least at first meeting but does warm up quickly.  We believe he would do better in a home with older children and not toddlers because of his energy level.  With cats he likes to chase them, but hasn't ever hurt one. He walks well on a leash, but will bark at other dogs and people. He just likes to let you know that they are there.  He is neutered, totally up to date on shots, on heart worm preventative, ccrate trained, and knows some basic obedience.  He is also housetrained.

Cosmo is a 6-8 year old male boxer. He has a docked tail and natural ears. He is extremely loveable and only wants to be as close to you as he can get. He is very gentle and sweet tempered. He gets along great with his foster sibling. He walks well on lead. He is housetrained and crate trained. He knows sit. He is very calm and just wants to be loved on. Cosmo is in the process of getting his vetting completed.  His gums have overgrown his teeth so he will be undergoing some dental work and having his teeth cleaned.  Cosmo will be ready for adoption shortly.

Charlie2.JPGCharlie is a 3 yr old flashy male who is a special needs boy. He came into rescue from a high kill shelter as a stray. When vetted it was found that he had a broken leg that did not get the attention it needed and it healed wrong. The bones healed slightly off, but it is fully healed and he gets around great. Our vet does not want to rebreak and set since this had been healed for quite some time and there is a chance it may not set perfectly again. Charlie is housetrained, crate trained and has good house manners. He is a beautiful boy who will not be placed in a home with young children, toddlers, or puppies that only want to rough house. He gets along very well with female dogs and is still playful.

7-27-28 Update:  I am doing great now! My mange is all cleared up and my fur has filled in nicely.  I love to play with other dogs but I will do best in a home that only has female dogs.  Sometimes other male dogs and I don't get along.  I an housebroken and crate trained...sometimes I just go in my cage when I want to rest.  I am good with kids of all ages.  My human foster sibling have nicknamed me "Harry" since my hair is longer than your average boxer.  I look like and act like a purebred boxer except for my long hair.  Oh well, it is okay to be a little different.  I am so cute when I eat!  I like to lay down when I eat with the bowl between my front legs...I like to take my time eating and really enjoy my food.  I am looking for a family who thinks it is okay that I look a little different and who will love me anyway.

My name is Ollie and I am a 2 year old boxer mix.  I was seized from my owner who had me and 100 or so other dogs.  Most of us had sarcoptic mange, which is very itchy and causes hair loss.  I was one of the lucky ones who made it into rescue. I am in week three of my treatment for the mange and have several more weeks before I will be ready for adoption.  I really hate it that I have to be separated from the other dogs in my house....I want to play with everybody so bad.  For now I need to stay isolated so none of the other dogs get what I have.  I am super sweet and enjoy playing with my foster mom outside.  I am good in my crate and only bark when the other dogs are playing without me.  Check back for an update on me really soon.

pennie adopted

Hi Courtney-

I wanted to email you to give you a quick update on things with Pennie.
She is such an amazing dog and Kurt and I are so happy that we were able to adopt her and give her a forever home.  She has adjusted very well and we are truly blessed to have her in our lives.  We were always hesitant about getting a puppy because of training, so Pennie has been the PERFECT addition to our family.  Pennie has been so easy to care for and we both love coming home to her every day.

She has met a few other dogs that our friends have and does GREAT with them.  Since she knows that she is bigger, she will play lightly with them and allows them to play with her toys with no aggression at all.

She loves going on her daily walks and she gets so excited to take a car ride.  Our families also love her and enjoy when Kurt and I are out of town for a day so they can dog sit.

I have attached some pictures so you can see how she is.

Thanks again for allowing us to adopt Pennie.  She has been such an amazing addition to our lives.

Sincerely-
Lori and Kurt

New Update on Pennie  7-11-08:   Hello! I've been separated from my sister, Little Bit, for about a week now. I am full of wonderful suprises. I've done well without my sister with no separation issues. Not only that, but I also get along wtih my new foster brother! I surprised my foster mom when after only two days being in my new home I began playing and wrestling with my new brother!  We play every day and I love every minute of it.  I also take a walk every day and I do excellent on my lead. I love walks and get so excited and wiggly when I see my leash. I enjoy chewing on bones, but I haven't really figured out toys yet. I'm very cuddly and love to snuggle up next to my foster parents. I would make a excellent addition to your family, please inquire about me!

7-27-08 UPDATE:  I am a great boy!  I have the run of the house because I am such a good boy and do not need to be crated.  My foster mom has never come home to any surprises.  I am the ONLY dog in my foster home that gets along with every other dog, large/small, male or female.  I will fit in to any home just like I have lived there my whole life…what more could you ask for?  I like to play with adults, kids and other dogs.  My nickname is “Mr. Nibbles” because I like to nibble with my front teeth when I play.  You never know where I might nibble you, but I am gentle.  When I get excited I make a noise that is a cross between a bark and a howl.  Then I spin in circles while making that noise….my foster family likes it when I get excited.  The only thing I do not like are thunderstorms.  When a storm comes I get nervous and pant.  I go looking for my foster mom and lay down beside her or follow her around.  All you need to do is pet me and reassuring me I am safe.  Please consider giving me a loving forever home.

I am so happy to be out of the high kill shelter I was calling home.  I almost did not make it into rescue because there were no open foster homes.  My foster mom took me despite have several dogs already. I can't understand why I ended up in a shelter.  I am about 5 years old and such a good boy.  I am potty trained and I don't cause any trouble in my foster home.  I do have an old injury to my right eye but it doesn't seem to bother me, and I can still see out of it pretty good.  I've only been in my foster home for 3 days and my mom already lets me sleep in her bedroom because she trusts me not to chew anything or have any accidents.  I get along great with the other boxers and small dogs in the house.  I just like to sit and enjoy the sights and smells of life.  I makes no sense to me that I was abandoned by my family when I'm such an pleasant boy to have around the house.  My only hang-up is my eye which is purely cosmetic.  If you can look past my appearance, I will make a great pet for your family.

Bradley  Bradley  Bradley  Bradley

Bradley is new to the rescue program.  He is a very nice looking flashy fawn male both cropped and docked of about 5-6 years old.  He came from a high kill shelter and we were very suprised that no one came looking for him.  He looked as though he has spent some time living outdoors, but he has regained his housetraining.  Not one accident so far.  He is a very playful fellow who loves TOYS.  He just can't seem to get enough of them.  He will pile all the toys in the toy box on the couch to lay down and play with them.  He spent several days before he tried to venture on the couch with the other dogs.  Now he gathers his toys and puts them on the couch then gets up to lay down with all of them.  He is such a sweet guy who wants only to please you and be with you.  He loves to play with the ladies and wants to really play with one of the senior girls but she isn't into it.  He will bring her toys and lay at her feet.  He doesn't mind being crated for he knows he is loved and will get his time out for play.  He is waiting for his forever family to come along.  We will post better pictures of him shortly, out of 20 this is the best where he was actually still long enough to snap a few shots.

I even have my sister-in-law staying at my house during the day to watch my youngest so king gets constant attention and loves it too. Its so funny how he will allow the girls to do anything to him. They put hats and sun glasses on him. They love making him sit and shake for a treat. We are just thankful to have him. Melissa.

8-20-08 Update:

Hello potential adopters,

I met King for the first time today.  He is the best trained dog I have ever met.  King consistently obeyed anything his owner told him to do.  King could be 10 foot away from you and still sit or lie down on command.  He was very appropriate with my children (6 & 8 years) and he even listed to them.  He is housebroken and crate trained.  King’s owner tells me he does well with large and small dogs, both male and female.  She is surrendering him to our rescue because her children have all gone off to college and she works 10+ hours a day.  King is ready for a new home where he can play and receive the attention he needs and deserves.  Once a foster spot opens up in my house, King will live with my family until he is adopted.  I don’t plan on King being in foster care very long…he is a GREAT dog!

My name is King and I just turned 5 years old in June. I have been surrendered by my owners who are undergoing some family changes. I have been with my current family all my life and I will stay with them until I am adopted. It will be hard for me to leave the only family I have even known but I will adjust with a lot of love and a little time. I do well with other female dogs, male dogs are unknown. I am excellent with children. I am housetrained and I know sit, stay, down, shake, no, and go to your room. King will make a great addition to any family. Check back soon for an update and new pictures.

Hooch4.jpg Hooch

Update: 7-3-08 Hooch would do best in a home with older children. He has a tendency to "rough house" a bit too eagerly. He just doesn't know his own strength, but boy does he love to play! Hooch is a hoot! (for lack of a better description) Hooch was found roaming around Nolin lake campground last year. A kind family found him and took him in for the weekend on their trip and then found him a foster home through this site. He has been with his foster mom for almost a year now and is still waiting for his home. He looks to be under two years old. Hooch is housetrained, crate trained and has good manners. He gets along well with other dogs but certainly prefers females. He loves everyone and would make a great companion. He is smaller in scale, walks well on lead and is just a lover.

Hey everybody, I am Tank, yep the name suits me just fine.  I am a beautiful flashy brindle boy of 6-7 months old.  I am all puppy.  I am playful, energetic, and full of suprises.  Thats me Tank.  I am learing all about the housetraining stuff, the crate training stuff that keeps me safe when your not home.  My foster mom has started me on what is called my basic commands, I seem to be a quick learner and she seems to think I may be getting a handle on it.  I get along very well with all dogs, people, anyone that will play with me.  Because of my size and strength I would most likely do well in a home with children over the age of 7, after all I am just a young playful pup and don't realize my size.  The nice people that took me in when I was homeless will be posting more as they learn about me.

7-3-08 Update:  Hi! It's me, Marley. There is now a video of me that you should watch on http://www.petfinder.org. See, even though I am blind, I still know where I'm going and will come right to you. You can also see how playful I still am. This disability hasn't slowed me down one bit! I'm extremely loving too. I like taking long walks, sunbathing in the yard or just laying beside you as you watch T.V. My mom says I'm very obedient and well-behaved. I think I'm about 4 years old now. Not that I don't love my foster mom, but it sure would be great to have a permanent family. I've been in rescue for over a year. People get discouraged by my eye problem when they see me in pictures, but if you meet me in person, you will see that I am a beautiful fawn boy who is in great shape physically as well as mentally. I don't have any other medical problems and I get along with all people and critters, which you won't find too often. Won't you be my new mommy or daddy? I promise not to disappoint you. Love, Marley

Marley came in from a high kill shelter in rural Kentucky 2-2-07 where he was picked up as a stray.  He has a lot of scars and signs of multiple dog bite wounds from when the shelter picked him up.  He would have been one of the first to be euthanized for he has extensive eye problems the shelter cannot afford to correct that we are going to get addressed.  One of his eyes has been ripped and the other is very swollen from possible damage.  He is unable to see out of the ripped eye and may have very little sight in the swollen one, or at least we are praying it is just swollen and that it can be saved.  The one eye will have to be removed and the eyelid stitched shut to cut down chances of infections.  We hope to be able to save the other.  Marley is a beautiful cropped and docked fawn boy of about 2-3 years old.  He is showing us that he is extremely smart.  Overnight he has learned that when the bell rings on the back door that means potty break and will run to the back door to be let out.  He appears to be fully housetrained, gets along very well with the other dogs in the household and has already learned the layout of the house and is not running into things.  He walks extemely well on lead and puts one paw out front to feel his way.  He is very loveable, gentle, and does like to play with toys.  The ladies from the shelter had 3 toys they got him and he is having a ball with them. Thank you ladies for your help in saving him, he will make his new family an exceptional boy.  We will post more about Marley as he progresses.

Update: 7-3-08 I have a new video and new pictures, video can be seen on http://www.petfinder.org! Still beautiful for an older gal, huh? See, even though was found with a bullet in my leg from my previous owner and a leg that had been broken and not given medical attention, I am still a happy girl and can even do a little "dance" for you. I'm potty trained and crate trained. My foster mom says I'm quiet and never cause any trouble. I'm waiting for that special person to come into my life and give me a forvever home so that I can finally feel like I belong. Come and meet me! I bet you won't be disappointed. Nattie was rescued from a kill shelter and was a true medical mess. She has since been fully vetted and the large tumor that was hanging from her stomach has been removed. She is recouping well from her surgery. She had a broken leg at one time that had not been treated and has healed in an S shape but this has not stopped this girl. She is super sweet, loving and only wants to please you. She will make someone an outstanding new family member.

Update: 7-3-08 Check out my new picture and video at http://www.petfinder.org! I've been in my foster home for a long time now and no one has even really inquired about me. What's not to love about me? I'm a gorgeous brindle and still have lots of energy for a middle-aged girl. I am very loyal to my owner and also very obedient. I don't mean to be so clingy, but, for so long I was ignored and abused. I just want someone to pay special attention to me. I'm a real good girl. I'll love you right back and maybe even more so! Being an only child wouldn't bother me a bit, although I still get along with my other foster siblings. Oh, and my thyroid "condition?" It hasn't slowed me down one bit. I've done extremely well on the medication and have not had any more problems. It is a very minor disease. My foster mom says my medicine only costs $11 for a 2-month supply. You can't beat that! Please give me a chance to show you what an awesome dog I am! 11-19-07 Update: Miss Lexi started loosing weight rather quickly and our vet said she has a thyroid condition and will have to remain on meds for this condition. Thyroid meds are rather inexpensive and with a little peanut butter very easy to give.

Look at how beautiful and healthy Brutus looks now, 4-10-08.

New Pics 4-2-08

Brutus8.jpg  Brutus2.jpg

Brutus4.jpg  Brutus7.jpg

4.2.08 Brutus has really done well with his socialization the past few months. He has done extremely well with both male and female foster siblings. Once Brutus realizes the new sibling is not going to hurt him or ‘his people’ he relaxes and begins to play. Within 24 hours of being introduced to a new sibling he is playing and cuddling with them. He has displayed an extreme amount of patience with his current foster brother who is still all puppy and likes to nibble on Brutus’ ears and lay on top of him on the couch.

12.27.07 We have learned this past weekend that Brutus would prefer to be the only dog in the household or will need a few days of socialization with other dogs. He would not do well with other dominate dogs. He is extremely playful and tends to play rough; though he is able to calm down when told. We have also learned, over the holidays, that Brutus takes about three days to become comfortable and not rambunctious in new surroundings. He continues to be loveable and affectionate. He has done well with the new people he has come in contact with over the holidays.

12.10.07 Brutus has been with us for about 2 weeks now. He is a 2 year old male boxer with natural ears and a docked tail. He is just now getting over Kennel Cough and we are beginning to see his personality. He was also really thin when he came to us, but has a healthy appetite and is putting on some much needed weight. He loves to play and has lost of energy. Sometimes he gets a little rough when he plays and has to be reminded to settle down. He is very strong and strong-willed so he could benefit from some obedience training. Due to his strength, dominate personality and roughness, at times, he would probably do best in a home without small children. He’s extremely affectionate and loves to be next to you at all times. He loves to cuddle and will let you know if he feels he is not getting enough lovin’. He is housetrained and does well when left alone in the house. He got along well with his foster brother before his brother was adopted and ignores the furry friends next door. We, unfortunately, do not know how he is around cats.

12-10-07  Paris thinks she would rather be an only dog in her new home, she doesn't mind sharing her home with kitties, just not other canines.

Paris is a beautiful boxer mix girl of under 2 years old.  She looks, acts and has all the traits of a purebred boxer but she does have black hair that has came in along her back.  She is housetrained, crate trained and is the sweetest most loving girl.  She is ready and waiting for her new family.

Max Update and new pics

Does anybody want to play?  I LOVE to play!  Wrestling, chasing, and playing with toys are all my favorites.   I have no idea that I am blind or any different from the other dogs.   I assure you I am not a handicapped dog in any way. Sometimes I run into things, but for the most part I know how to avoid the obstacles inside and outside the house.  Most people would probably never even know I am blind because I am able to function in all the same ways as seeing dogs.  My foster mom actually thinks I listen better than her seeing dogs.  They ignore her sometimes, but as soon as I hear my mom I come running right away. My rear end and my tail never stop wiggling, they wiggle even when I eat.

I am turning into a really handsome man.  I have grown several inches taller and longer just in the last month.   Regular and nutritious meals have helped my coat to become slick and shinny.  I still need to put on some weight, but since I am growing so fast I have not been able to fill out.  I love people and I'm good with kids and large/small dogs.  I'm doing good with my potty training and will continue to improve.  I am a good boy in my crate, but I sometimes bark if I think the other dogs are having fun without me.  Please consider being my devoted forever family,  I will love you forever.

2-28-08  DeDe may be totally deaf, she is unable to even hear a horn blow just a few feet away from her.  She will be seeing the vet to make sure that it is nothing medically wrong with her ears and will begin learning sign.

2-13-08: DeDe has been found and returned to us.  She is doing great, just a little hungry.

DeDe is lost - she escaped her home during the tornado Tues night.  She was being fostered in Powderly KY.  If found please contact Sandie, 270-302-7920 or Cora (foster mom) 270-543-8599.

DeDe2.jpg DeDe4.jpg

DeDe is a SWEETY! Just look at that face!
DeDe came in to our home shy and timid and is certianly coming out of her shell now. She is perfect on a leash. She doesnt pull away from you unless she see's something she wants to catch! DeDe is Crate trained and we have no problem getting her to enter her crate. This little girl is not food aggressive. She gets along well with our other boxer Nellie. However she isn't fond of cats AT ALL. DeDe needs a home with lots of love because she doesn't even know what 'play' means. We are teaching her that play is good and she is starting to nose around the toys now(and Nellie is helping her along in the play department). DeDe appears as if she has never had someone take time with her and just love her. She craves attention and loves children. She is a smaller little girl boxer and certianly has a huge heart to make up for she smaller size. We are working on her manners and teaching her commands... as things progress we will send updates.

Ella-Adopted

Ella1.jpg   Ella2.jpg

Ella, is fawn and white with very errect natural ears. She also was a very wild child when she came from the pound and is also learning to walk on a lead and sit.  I do not think she has had many experiences with different people and environments and she become defensive when faced with new situations.  But if you talk to her and encourage her she will explore and gain confidience.
Again I think she needs a family with Adults/ or adults with older children since she loves to run and play and jump..and play ball.  I think her activity level would frighten younger children..and I'm not sure how she would react to screaming small kids. She also needs to be the only dog in the household with no kitties.

Buck-Adopted

Buck Buck

UPDATE 5-14-08:  I can't understand why no one wants me?  Not one person has even inquired about me and I have been in foster care since November.  I guess it is because I have my natural tail.  Only my foster mom knows how great a boy I am.  I am a gentle giant who is happy all the time.  I love to play with the other dogs in the house and I get along with everybody.  I sit perfectly in my crate and never make any noise.  I am very patient and wait my turn to go outside and to be feed.  If you can see it in your heart to love a boxer with his natural tail you will find a loyal and loving friend.

buck.jpg  buck2.jpg

UPDATE 3-31-08:

Buck is doing so good with his manners and he will continue to get better.  When Buck first came into rescue his was very wild acting and had very inappropriate social skills.  I often compared his presence in my house to a bull in a china shop.  Buck is truly a good hearted dog and means no one or other dogs any harm.  He loves to wrestle and play toys outside with the other boxers.  It is taking Buck a little longer to be fully housebroke, but I have no doubt he will get there...he almost is now.  He is perfect in his crate and never barks or cries, even if the other dogs are barking.  He is great with kids of all ages and can definitely tolerate their roughness. He enjoys playing with his human family, relaxing in the spring air, and chewing big rawhide bones.  Buck is more than ready to find his forever home.

JoeBoxer1.jpg  JoeBoxer2.jpg

joe.JPG  joe3.JPG

joe4.JPG12-20-07 Update:
Bucks manners have greatly improved in the last two weeks, and I have no doubt he will continue to make improvements.  He is very eager to please and is ashamed when he gets scolded.  Buck will also continue to work on his potty training which is also getting better.  He loves to play and roam around in the yard by himself or with his dog friends.  He is good with all dogs large and small.  Buck is current on all his vaccinations and was recently neutered, he is ready for his forever home.
This very handson guy is our latest addition to the rescue, we have changed his name to Buck.  He is 1-2 years old and was picked up as a stray.  He is a sweet boy but needs to work on his basic obedience and potty training.  He is crate trained, does well with other dogs, and likes kids. He will be going to the vet next week to be neutered and will be ready for adoption shortly.  Check back soon for updates.

Pepper1.jpgGot yeah.  Bet your thinking thats not a boxer, well your right.  I am Pepper or Pepe for short.  I am a 2 year old purebred toy poodle who was turned in by my previous owners at a very high kill shelter for they could not take care of me.  I do fine uncrated for so far I haven't destroyed anything when left out alone or with one of my boxer buddies.  I am fully housetrained and get along very well with the other boxer kids here.  I am a real joy to have around.  I love to play and snuggle, I also really like sleeping in the bed with you or being in your lap when you are resting.  I am so glad the rescue lady got me out of that place, I was so scared I couldn't stop shaking for awhile.  I am fully vetted now and waiting on my new family, one that will not dump me at the animal shelter ever again.  Would you be the love of my life?  Sincerely Pepe

Letter from new dad:
Sandie,
Thanks for the letter. I was going to write you over the weekend, but you beat me to it.  Jean and I are blown away at Spike's behavior. He has no accidents inside. He may be the best dog that we have ever had. He lounges around on his new bed and nothing fazes him.
He now is adjusted to this is his home and he is starting to bark at people as they walk by on the street, especially if they are wlking their dog. He is also barking to let us know when someone is at the back door.
Jean stated this morning that we may need to name him Duckie, I said why? She said that he was like a duck and followed her all over the house as she was preparing to go to work. Every morning around 6:30, he comes into our bedroom and nuzzles or kisses me to wake me up.
He really dosen't do all the barking to be let in as I thought that he might do after you told me this. But, he come to the kitchen window and whine or yip a little. I am totally amazed by him. He is almost to good to be true.
I have started his education to his boundries in the unfenced lawn areas. He understands sit, stay, and shake. He doesn't especially like to lay down when you tell him, it's like I hear you but I will do when I am ready type of attitude. after maybe 3-4 minutes he lies down on his own and then everything is fine.
We catch our selves baby talking him, I especially talk to im like a little boy, telling him that Daddy will take him out. It sounds foolish, but he has a way about him that we already love the pieces out of him. I wish I knew his background such as ancestry. He has good stock and he also is sure of himself and that I feel makes him such a mild mannered individual. We appreciate your interest and will always look forward to your letters at anytime. Next week, I will take some pictures of Sarah with Spike before we have to take her to D.C. for school.    Jerry

UPDATE 3-31-08:

After about 2 months in rescue, Spike is really turning into a great dog.  Spike has more personality than any boxer I have ever known.  He is a big clown and lives for fun....Spike will keep you very active.  In the beginning he was very possessive of all toys, bones, food, etc....he often got into disagreements with the other boxers over his possessions.  He also did not really know how to play with the other dogs, who often got mad at him.  In the last two weeks he has made drastic changes.  It is no longer his mission to steal everything from the other dogs, and his is able to play and wrestle with the other dogs without anyone's tempers getting out of hand.  He will do fine in a home with or without other dogs, but he will require lots of play time and mental stimulation.  Spike is great with kids of all ages and is willing to tolerate their roughness.  Spike is also fully housebroke, but he still urinates in his crate on a inconsistent basis.  After consulting with a behaviorist, it was determined that Spike has some crate anxiety which can be easily overcome with consistent behavior modification.  It is likely that Spike will get over his crate anxiety with when the help of his foster family and continuing with his adoptive family.

My name is spike and I am a very handsome young man of just over a year old. I was seized from my owner who left me chained outside in the cold with no food, water or shelter. I am so thankful for the person who called and reported what was happening to me. I am safe and warm now in my foster home and trying to adjust to a new life. I know how to sit and shake and my foster mom thinks there is a good chance I am already house trained. I am slowly being introduced to my foster brothers and sisters so we will be learning how I get along wtih other dogs. My vetting is all current and I am ready to find my forever home. Thanks for looking at me and check back soon for updates. Love, Spike

Sara is a beautiful cropped and docked flashy fawn girl.  She is a quit girl..doesn't bark much when every one else gets to barking.  She likes to play, she is a little over weight, but I have not gotten to increase her exercise, I think that would help her a lot.  She plays nicely with our 6yr old granddaughter. She is wonderful on lead, housetrained and just a perfect.

Hey, I am Jynx.  I think I have one of the cutest names to match my beautiful self.  I am about 9 months old and just a little dream girl.  I am housetrained and crate trained but do need to be let out a little more often.  I get along well with other dogs and love to play.  What puppy don't?  I can't tell you about the cats for my previous owner was allergic to them.  I have been fully vetted and ready for my new family.  What are you waiting for?  It's me Jynx.

Honey-Adopted

honey208.jpg

UPDATE 3-31-08:  Honey is a great girl of about 8 years.  She is very healthy and still very active.  She prefers to play with people over other dogs but she gets along good with other large and small dogs.  She does not need to be crated when you leave the house or at night.... she if fully housebroke and would never chew anything.  Her favorite thing to do is be right by your side.  She does not care what she is doing as long as she can be with her human companions.  She is great with kids of all ages and makes friends with strangers immediately. All Honey wants is to love you and to be loved.  Honey looks sad in pictures, but I assure you she is not sad.  She greets me every morning with her ears held high and her rear end wiggling.  Honey may not be your first choice because she is older or as flashy as the better bred boxers.  What Honey lacks in looks, she more than makes up for in personality and temperament.  Please consider giving Honey the only thing she has ever wanted, her loving and devoted forever home.

12-20-07 Update:

Honey is a senior brindle girl. It is hard to tell from the pictures that Honey is very underweight, but she is eating 3 meals a day trying and gain weight.  Honey appears to be housebroke, but a few accidents are not out of the question.  She is great with kids, large/small dogs male and female.  She is still a very active girl and likes to play with people and other dogs.  She knows sit/shake and has good house manners.  Honey does not care for her crate and will cry or bark when she first gets in.  She will be working a little more on her crate training.  Once she is in her forever home, Honey should be okay to stay out of a crate.  She will do good in a home with other dogs or as a only pet.  Honey is current on all her vaccinations and was recently spayed, she is ready for her forever home.

Honey will be coming into our program the week of 12-10-07 and we will be posting more about this adult beauty shortly.  She will be fully up to date on all shots, heartworm tested, and spayed prior to adoption.  Please check back on this girl as we update her bio.

2-25-08 Update:   Titus is very smart....he knows sit, down, shake, out, and no.  He is crate trained and is mostly house-trained.  He gets along great with other dogs and would do very well with another fur sibling.  He also loves to play fetch...he will play for hours, chasing a tennis ball and bringing it back to you and would love to be in a home with older children that would play ball or frisbee with him.  Titus is very affectionate, sweet and an all around great dog.  He is neutered, UTD on his vetting and ready for his new home.

Titus is new to the rescue program.  He was surrendered to the local animal shelter because a new baby came into the family.  He is approximately 1.5 years old.  We will be posting more on Titus as we learn all about him.

dane.JPG  dane2.JPG

Dane is a 9 month old fawn boy who was pulled from a shelter the day before he was to be euthanized.  He is too cute and all puppy still!  He will be working on his house manners and basic obedience.  Dane is good with kids and gets along with other large dogs.  His new best buddy is Buck who is pictured with him above. Dane does NOT like CATS, he will kill them.  We have not tested him with small dogs due to his hate for cats.  Once we get to know him more we will test Dane with small dogs.  He appears to be housebroke and is working on his crate training.  Dane certainly is not a bad boy, just a puppy in need of training.  He will do good in a home with other dogs or as an only pet.  Dane is current on all his vaccinations and was recently neutered, he is ready for his forever home.

Shorty-Adopted

This is one happy boy.

9-10-07 Update from foster family:

Shorty is coming into his little personality like a champ.  He has been playing great with other boxers under supervision, because gets a little defensive when feeling tire or overwhelmed.  His small frame allows him to truly be a lap dog and he is happiest when he is laying with some part of his body on you.  He goes in his crate willingly and is coming along on his leash training.  Shorty responds quickly to sit and down and he is working very hard to learn other voice commands.  I think Shorty is more in the 3 year old range because is ready to play when you are, but is also just as content with a bunch of cuddle time.

Meet Shorty the newest foster addition to our family. He is a beautiful brindle color with natural ears and docked tail, with an awfully endearing underbite and as his name suggest he is quite small. This little guy was most certainly kept outside because he very curious about all things indoors. He spent his first week crated during the day with no potty incidents. We are estimating him to be around 3 years old. He has been following his foster parents around with each step. He gets along fine with the our terrier but the other big dogs seem to bring out some fearful aggressive behavior. Shorty has started to show little bursts of playfulness, but is still unsure about what toys are about and how to walk on a leash. Mr. Shorty has a whole lot of love to give and will want to be at your side as much as possible.

9-15-07 Update:  Tyson is fully house trained and crate trained.  He gets along very well with other dogs, he doesn't like motors running of any kind and will try to get a broom or mop from you.  This is one very loveable boy.

Tyson was an owner surrender at a local kill shelter because he DOESN'T LIKE CATS.  Tyson is a light brindle boy who is cropped and docked.  He is a very sweet, playful 18 month old.  He will be a beautiful boy when he regrows his hair.  He has had a skin scraping done and there was no mange present.  He may possibly be allergic to something where he was being housed outside, malnutrition, or a number of other things.  He will begin working on his housetraining and crate training.  He will start his vetting very shortly.

Dib-Adopted

We had been searching high and low for the right addition to our family for a
few months before my husband happened to see our White Boxer Dib on
Petfinder.com from overseas on his deployment. He insisted that Dib was the
right one for us and he couldn't have been more right. We can't imagine
being without him now he is such a wonderful, loving Boxer! He loves going to
the dog park and running free but is always ready to give kisses to his family
when the fun is done! We recently took a family road trip to California and our
family absolutely fell in love with our sweet Dib, and he was invited back
anytime! Even we don't get that! Petfinder helped us find the missing piece
of our family! Thank you Petfinder.com!

Dib3.jpg  Dib4.jpg

Dib is new to the rescue program.  He is approximately under 2 yrs old and fully hearing, he is housetrained, crate trained, good house manners and even some formal obedience classes. He weighs appx. 80 lbs.  He gets along well with everyone even small children, other dogs, cats are unknown.  He and Zim are littermates and have begun to fight over the alpha position, so they will be placed seperate.  This does not apply to other dogs.

Molly Brindle-Adopted

MollyBrindle2.jpg  MollyBrindle3.jpg

MollyBrindle1.jpgMolly is a sweetheart who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I'm grateful that I found her. She is wonderful with my children. That tail never stops wagging and she endures pulling and patting like a patient mother. (I have a one year old who loves to test patience! lol) Molly is 18 months to 2 years old and at last weigh in was 39.4 pounds. She was hit by a car going 40 MPH and she's VERY lucky to have only sustained a few scrapes on her hind end. She was 34.4 pounds when I weighed her the day after her accident. She has been spayed and had a full check up with the vet, to include her rabies, parvo and distemper, and even a deworming. She tested negative for parvo and her fecal test only revealed hookworms which were easy enough to treat. Even with her scrapes on her bottom and the obvious pain it caused her to have someone touch her there, she never showed any aggression towards me or any of the staff at the vet clinic. I think she would do best as an only pet because she has some food aggression and doesn't interact well with my other dogs, but with the right home and some lovin I think she could fit in anywhere.

12-7-07  This girl is fabulous.  She is perfectly housetrained, crate trained, good manners.  Loves attention and gives delightful kisses.  She is still very playful and when you return home from work bends herself double dancing for you.  She is very good with her boxer buddies and would also work very well with small male dogs.  We have not been able to cat test her.  She would be great with children of all ages.  Her vetting will be completed shortly.  We are having a mammory tumor removed and tested for heartworm as soon as she can be scheduled.

Lady just came into rescue 11-30-07 and seems absolutey wonderful.  She is a beautiful mahogany fawn lady of 6 years.  She appears to be well housetrained, very good manners, very scared her first night after her shelter ordeal and coming into a household with strangers and other dogs.  After a good nights sleep and a chance to relax she gave the most wonderful boxer beans.  We will post more on Miss Lady as we learn.

UPDATE 4-2-07: Nellie's foster mom discovered something very unique about little Miss Nellie while her son was skate boarding.  Nellie walked over and climbed on and proceeded to push off.  We learn something new everyday about our foster kids.

Nellie is Deaf.  She was left behind in a housing complex when the owner moved away and was found by the maintenance crew when they entered the apartment.  She is very young, less than a year, and quite beautiful.  We will see where she is on her sign language (if any), housetraining, manners, and she will begin crate training.  At the moment she appears food aggressive, this may go away with regular feedings and her realizing she will get her share. This food issue will have to be a wait and see if there is improvement.  More will be posted as we learn.
